The University of Karachi announced on Thursday that it has highlighted the continuity of traditional two-year degree programs, a statement issued by the university said.
According to the statement, a committee has been constituted by the university for the phased implementation of the two-year associate degree program and four-year BS program proposed by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
Members of the KU Academic Council also decided to postpone the two-year associate degree program until June 2022. The Academic Council met in the Arts Auditorium and was chaired by UK Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmoud Iraqi.
The decision to revive the traditional Bachelors and Masters programs was taken in the light of the recommendations of a committee headed by Prof. Jamil H. Kazmi.
Meanwhile, the Academic Council also constituted a committee headed by Dean Faculty of Education Prof. Nasir Suleiman to discuss the phased implementation of two-year associate degree and four-year BS programs in which heads of various departments would be consulted. The committee consists of Prof. Dr. Anila Anbar Malik, Prof. Dr. Anthab Ulfat, Prof. Dr. Samina Saeed, Prof. Dr. Maqsood Ali Ansari, Prof. Dr. Taseer Ahmad Khan and Prof. Dr. Nadeem Mahmood.
She will share her recommendations with members of the Academic Council for regularizing the curriculum for HEC proposed degree programs.

The Academic Council observed that the decisions were taken in the light of HEC’s policies and Karachi University was awaiting clarification from HEC on various agendas.
