South Korean consumer electronics brand LG The budget is set to expand its portfolio in the category as it plans to cash in on the anti-China sentiment in the country, according to Report good By The Economic Times.
According to the report, Advaita Vaidya, Head of Business – Mobile Communications LG Electronics, Has said that next month, the company plans to launch six smartphones. “Therefore, from August this year, we will launch six phones in all segments – starting from the sub-Rs 10,000 category to the core segment. We are accelerating channel, online and offline distribution.
Not only this, but the company is also preparing to launch its tablet in India by the end of the year. It is said to focus on three aspects – building a strong online presence, offline expansion in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities and new phones under the Rs 15,000 price bracket.
Vaidya said, “The short-term window of opportunity is large enough for us to enter the space and gain scale.”
The report also mentions that the company is working to partner with an Indian contract manufacturer and is expected to make an announcement on that front soon.
To recall, the company last launched a budget smartphone with the launch of the W-series in India in 2019. In this series, the company launched the W10, W30 and W30 Pro. While the W30 Pro never received an official price, the LG W30 was launched for Rs 9,999 and the LG W10 was priced at Rs 8,999.
