The School Education Department has received several complaints during the epidemic period in the last eight to ten months such as the school management forcing the parents for fees. At the same time there were many complaints such as students who were not paid their fees from the WhatsApp group for online education, failed to release their report card of the last term exam, penalty for late fees etc.
Keeping in view of the complaints, the Minister directed the education officers of the concerned divisions to investigate and take appropriate action against the schools.
The minister also asked the department to constitute fee regulation committees at the state and divisional level, where parents can lodge their complaints related to the fees. Gaikwad also asked to take action against illegal schools under Right to Education (RTE).
Following a parental appeal, in May 2020, the Department of Education appointed 87 nodal officers in 36 districts to receive fee-related complaints during the Kovid-19 lock-down. The department continued to receive a number of complaints even after circulars were issued to schools asking them not to force parents to pay them during a lock-down or fee increase this year.
