Mumbai: Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education will award SSC students with their average marks in other subjects as their marks in Geography, a paper which was canceled due to Kovid-19 status in the state. The same rule would also apply to commercial papers which were also canceled.

In an unprecedented move, on 13 April, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education decided to cancel the pending geography paper for over 17 lakh students. However, board officials had said that they do not have any marking scheme for such a situation in the current rules.

The board had consulted the experts and issued a circular announcing the marking scheme on Wednesday. The circular states, “The average of a student in those subjects for all the subjects for which he has appeared will be considered as his score in geography.”
