Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero says he is struggling to overcome a knee injury that has sidelined him for much of the season and he needs more time to return to full fitness.
City’s record goalscorer Aguero has made just six appearances in all competitions this season after missing out on a campaign after knee surgery.
The 32-year-old Argentine showed up as a replacement in Tuesday’s 1–1 draw with West Bromwich Albion but missed a training session before Saturday’s trip to Southampton.
“It’s difficult,” Aguero told British media. “Sometimes my knee is good, sometimes it’s a little bad.” I am doing everything to help the physio and medical staff.
“I need some time but I come back in the week, and I hope to do my best. Now I need time, but it’s a long season. “
City are ninth in the Premier League, eight points behind leaders Liverpool, but Agüero is confident his side will be able to overcome a title challenge.
“We always believe that we can challenge for the title. In the Premier League, you win two games and then you are on top. We need to keep calm, play the same way, as Citi always fights for the title. Always, ”he said.
