New Delhi: Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Anil Baijal has approved the premature release Jessica Lal Murder Case Convicted criminal Manu sharma, Who is serving a life sentence, according to an official order.
The Delhi Sentence Review Board (SRB), which comes under the Delhi government, recommended Sharma’s premature release last month.
Sources said the recommendation was made at the SRB meeting on 11 May headed by Delhi Home Minister Satyendar Jain.
Sharma, son of former Union Minister Vinod Sharma, was convicted by the Delhi High Court in December 2006 for the murder of Jessica Lal in 1999 and sentenced to life imprisonment.
He was acquitted by a trial court, but the High Court overturned the order and the Supreme Court later upheld his life sentence in April 2010.
On the night of April 30, 1999, Lal was shot dead after refusing to serve liquor at the Imli Court restaurant owned by socialite Bina Ramani in Qutub Colonnade in Mehrauli area of ​​South Delhi.
