The Interior Ministry on Tuesday received a letter from National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman Javed Iqbal seeking inclusion of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shahbaz Sharif in the ECL.
According to 24NewsHD, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid will convene a meeting tomorrow to defer the inclusion of Shahbaz Sharif in the Exit Control List (ECL).
The Minister of Law and concerned officials will attend the meeting. The Home Minister will hold a press conference.
NAB Lahore has sent a letter to its headquarters in Islamabad to keep Shahbaz in the ECL as the Accountability Bureau is defeating the former Punjab Chief Minister on a property issue.
Sources said that a petition has been sent to the NAB headquarters to challenge the decision of the Lahore High Court in the Supreme Court for not including the name of the accused in the ECL.
On Saturday, the FIA dropped Shahbaz Sharif off a plane bound for Doha at Lahore International Airport. On Friday, the Lahore High Court allowed the PML-N president to go abroad for medical treatment and also ordered his name to be removed from the blacklist.
Shahbaz was on his way to Doha from Lahore Airport when FIA officials took him off the flight because, according to him, his name had not been removed from the blacklist. The government also decided to challenge the LHC’s decision to allow the opposition leader to travel abroad.
