National Energy Conservation Day today: what day is it – India News

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), under the Union Ministry of Energy, annually celebrates 14 December as National Energy Conservation Day to help India contribute towards energy conservation and become an energy-efficient nation.

BEE uses this opportunity to spread awareness among the public about energy efficiency and the need for green. The Bureau asked everyone to be vigilant in our environment and to be energy conscious and advocate for energy conservation.

BEE is an agency established in March 2002 operating under the jurisdiction of the Government of India after the formation of the Energy Conservation Act in 2001 in India. BEE formulates policies related to energy conservation and works to make the general public aware of the common issue. The Energy Conservation Act 2001 came into existence to monitor and measure energy efficiency at all levels in the private and public sector.

Many ministers and organizations took to social media to mark an opportunity for awareness of energy efficiency and conservation in an era where climate change is as real as Kovid-19. Netizens also joined the trend and widely shared the message for sustainability.

Union Energy Minister Hardeep Singh Puri tweeted, “On National Energy Conservation Day, let us pledge to adopt energy conservation in our everyday lives.”

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, “On this #NationalEnergyConservationDay, everyone vows to use energy judiciously in everyday life, ensuring zero wastage and the importance of energy conservation for a healthy environment and sustainable future. Spread awareness. “

Last year, BEE also organized National Energy Conservation Awards at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi to recognize and reward organizations and industrial units for achieving energy use and conservation goals.

The award recognized 56 subcategories in industrial areas and institutions such as thermal power stations, office and BPO buildings, hotels, hospitals, shopping malls, zonal railways, railway workshops and stations, municipalities, state designated agencies and manufacturers of BEE STAR equipment . Equipment and power distribution companies.
