Washington: A study shows that in people with mild Kovid-19 cases, their antibodies against coronoviruses fall sharply in the first three months after infection.
A research team at the University of California at Los Angeles conducted an in-depth study of 34 people who had recovered from mild Kovid-19 infection. Xinhua reported on Tuesday that he had his blood tested two or three times in three months.
Researchers found a rapid decline in antibodies – immune system proteins that help prevent virus-infected cells in the body. According to the study published in The New England Journal of Medicine, antibody levels fell by half in every 73 days.
Studies have stated that the findings expressed concern that human immunity against SARS-CoV-2 may not be long-lasting, making up the majority of individuals with Kovid-19.
According to the study, further studies will be needed to define the amount and rate of degradation of antiviral antibodies beyond 90 days.
