New Delhi: The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) on Tuesday decided to postpone the proposed national camp for the Tokyo Olympic-shooters and corps probables indefinitely, citing the prevailing circumstances regarding the Kovid-19 epidemic.

The TOI specifically stated on 28 July that the camp would not begin at KSSR from 1 August, as shooters and coaches questioned the need and urgency of such a peak sick-time ‘schedule when the epidemic was at its peak. In addition, shooters, coaches and high-performance manager, Raunak Pandit, were not advised by NARI before announcing the dates for the 34 Olympic Core Group of Shooters.
Several factors were involved for the postponement of the camp, including the natural fear of the occupants during the pandemic, exposing themselves to an airport checkup where guns would be tested by shooters, physical security personnel, The situation in Kovid-19 worsens. Some of the shooters who have frequented KSSR in their personal capacity include Mairaj Ahmed Khan, Sheerz Sheikh, Manu Bhakar, Deepak Kumar, Sanjeev Rajput and Aneesh Bhanwala. But, most of them have either stayed in the Delhi-NCR region or travel occasionally from cities around Haryana. Some people have rented apartments in and around Faridabad border. The NRAI had planned to house the campers at the Manav Rachna University campus in Faridabad, an ISSF-approved training academy and is located close to the KSSR.
