A 160-foot-long and 60-foot-wide stage has been built in Jinnah Bagh, Karachi, adjacent to the Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum, and more than 50,000 seats have been set up for the convenience of the participants.

Maryam Nawaz will arrive in Karachi on Sunday afternoon for the rally and JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who is also the PDM chief, arrived on Saturday night.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah both visited the venue before the rally to inspect the preparations. The PPP claims that one lakh people will participate in the rally.

More than 4,000 police have been deployed for the security of the rally and organizers have arranged 100,000 masks for the participants. Seats are also kept away from each other to ensure social distance.

Four gates have been set up in the venue. One for PDM leaders, one for women, one for political activists and one for the media. The federal government has issued an angry certificate for the rally but warned that permission could be revoked at any time for any reason. The rally is to end before midnight.

There are three phases – one for key PDM leaders and two for senior opposition party leaders. Each stage is 160 feet long, 20 feet high and 50 feet wide. Barbed wire has been placed around the main stage where PDM leaders will sit.

The PDM, which is made up of 11 opposition parties, has vowed to hold rallies across the country to launch an anti-government movement. Its first meeting was on October 16 in Gujranwala which was a mega hit show.
