NEW DELHI: Cab aggregator Ola has acquired Amsterdam-based electric scooter startup Etergo BV. With this acquisition, the company makes its entry into the premium electric two-wheeler market.

Founded in 2014, Attergo has developed an all-electric appsuitor, which uses swappable high-energy density batteries to deliver a range of 240 km and class-leading acceleration. Ola said in a statement that the acquisition will help the company transform the 100 million + global two-wheeler market, including 20 million + Indian two-wheeler market.

Ola also said that she plans to set up extensive charging and swapping networks across the country. The company is also deploying electric vehicles to drive multiple vehicles and charging solutions in cities with a focus on two and three wheel vehicles.

Ola plans to launch its electric two-wheeler in India next year. The company has already started developing a conducive EV ecosystem through the installation of battery swapping and charging stations in Delhi.

In an official statement, the company stated, “The future of mobility is electricity, and the post COVID world presents an opportunity for us to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility globally. We look forward to building the best global capabilities in engineering, design and manufacturing to make these products in India. ”
