NEW DELHI: Ravi Shastri celebrated his 58th birthday on Wednesday after captain Virat Kohli extended his wishes for the current coach of the senior men’s team.

Kohli also said that while many believe that only a few are brave.

Kohli tweeted, “Many believe but only a few are brave. Happy birthday Ravi bhai. God bless.”


India’s Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane also took to Twitter to wish Shastri on his 58th birthday.

Rahane tweeted, “Wishing you all a very happy and happy birthday. Ravi bhai. Good and see you soon! @RaviShastriOfc

Shastri played 80 Tests and 150 ODIs for India. He managed to score 6,938 runs in both formats and also took 280 wickets in his international career. Shastri was also part of the 1983 World Cup winning team.

The highlight of his career became the Champion of Champions at the 1985 Cricket World Championship in Australia in 1985.

In the same season, he equaled West Indies ‘Gary Sobers’ record of hitting six sixes in an over in first-class cricket.
