Over 200 million Kovid-19 shots administered in the US

Washington: According to the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 200 million shots of Kovid-19 vaccines have been administered in the United States.
US President Joe Biden also announced Wednesday that the country had hit 200 million Kovid-19 shots, a target he set to meet by the end of April, reports Xinhua.
Biden said the country is entering a new phase in its vaccination efforts as it begins to focus on the highest risk for people from vaccinating to vaccinating.
“The time is now to open a new phase of this historic vaccination effort,” Biden said. “Simply put, if you’re waiting for your turn, don’t wait anymore. It’s time to get all people over the age of 16 vaccinated.”
Data from the CDC shows that as of Wednesday approximately 215 million Kovid-19 vaccine shots have been administered, while 277 million Kovid-19 vaccine doses have been distributed.
According to CDC data, currently about 87 million Americans have been fully vaccinated, accounting for 26.4 percent of the US population.
About 134 million Americans obtained leases on a Kovid-19 shot, accounting for 40.5 percent of the population.
Among fully vaccinated, 35 million people are 65 years of age or older, accounting for 65.6 percent, CDC data showed.
The United States has been preparing for a vaccine rollout since last December. There are three COVID-19 vaccines authorized for emergency use in the country.
The American Food and Drug Administration authorized one developed by American drugmaker Pfizer in partnership with German company BioNotech and the other by American drugmaker Modern in December last year.
Johnson & Johnson’s Kovid-19 vaccine was approved for emergency use on February 27, but was halted for use last week after rare blood clots in six recipients had accumulated.
According to CDC data, a total of 113 million Pfizer / Bioentech doses and 94 million modern doses are currently administered in the United States, while 7.9 million Johnson & Johnson shots have been administered prior to its stoppage.
