The Foreign Office announced on Friday that Pakistan has agreed to join the “new Chaudhry diplomatic platform” with the United States, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan to “enhance regional connectivity”.

“Representatives from the United States, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan agreed on the principle of establishing a new Chaudhry diplomatic platform to focus on enhancing regional connectivity,” the State Department said in a statement.

The four countries agreed that “long-term peace and stability in Afghanistan” is “important for regional engagement,” the statement said. It also states that countries agree that “peace and regional ties are mutually reinforcing.”

“Recognizing the historic opportunity to open up developing international trade routes, the two sides intend to work together to enhance trade, build transit links and strengthen business-to-business ties,” the FO said.

The two sides agreed to meet in the coming months to determine the modalities of this cooperation by mutual consent.
