Islamabad: Pakistan overtook China on Thursday, the first epicenter of coronovirus, after a record 4,688 new cases were taken to take 85,246 tally during the last 24 hours.
According to Johns Hopkins University data, China is ranked 18th, a step lower than Pakistan, with 84,160 patients.
On Thursday, the Ministry of National Health Services said that Pakistan has seen 1,770 deaths with Kovid-19, including 82 in the last 24 hours.
The ministry said that 4,688 new Kovid-19 cases were registered in the country during this period, the highest on a single day.
Another 30,128 was recovered.
So far 32,910 patients of coronovirus in Sindh, Punjab 31,104, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa 11,373, Balochistan 5,224, Islamabad 3,544, Gilgit-Baltistan 824 and 285 cases of viral disease were reported in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
On the positive side, a record 20,167 trials were conducted in the last 24 hours, making the total number of tests conducted so far at 615511.
As the number of infections continues to increase, Planning Minister Asad Omar said an effective media campaign is being carried out across the country to create awareness and educate the public for voluntary compliance with standard operating procedures.
Presiding over a meeting of the National Command and Operation Center, Omar said that a clear message should be given to the public that the government is going to take drastic action to follow social guidelines and safety guidelines in public places and high-risk areas Hai, Radio Pakistan reported.
He said that administrative action would be initiated across the country against violators of the standard operating procedure imposed to prevent the spread of Kovid-19.
The coronovirus epidemic, which occurred in the central Chinese city of Wuhan last year, infected more than 6,511,000 people and killed more than 3,86,000 people worldwide.
