PM directs Punjab, KP to recover 26,000 kanals of land from occupiers in Bhakkar

Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to launch an immediate operation and recover 26,000 kanals of government land from illegal occupants in Bhakkar District.

The Forest Department of Dera Ismail Khan will launch an operation in the next few days to clear the land worth billions of rupees.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government bought thousands of acres of land in Punjab’s Bhakkar District in 1978 when the Darya Khan Bridge was being built. Later, the occupiers seized 26,000 kanals of land owned by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, and began cultivating the land with the connivance of the government departments responsible for maintaining the land. Now the Prime Minister has asked the governments of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to immediately recover the land from illegal occupiers so that olive trees can be planted on the land.

According to sources, the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments will launch a joint operation in the next few days to reclaim land owned by the Communications and Works Department, which has been used by usurpers for the past 30 years. In the last phase of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the land was handed over to the Forest Department for the Billion Tree Tsunami Project.

The then Forest Secretary Nazar Hussain Shah and District Forests Officer Musa Khan Baloch got about 10,000 kanals of this land from the occupiers and trees were planted there. As soon as Nazar Shah was transferred and Musa Khan Baloch retired from his job, influential land grabbers recaptured the land. Now, once again, an operation is being planned to reclaim the land from the occupiers and plant olive oil forests there.

Following the instructions of the Prime Minister, the Dera Ismail Khan District Forest Officer held a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner of Bhakkar and first launched an operation in Rehman Wali village to finalize the plan to take back the land from the occupiers. Sources said that Dera Ismail District Forests Officer Shahid Noor and SDFO Aminul Islam have been assigned to take back the land from the occupiers.

According to reports, Prime Minister Imran Khan will soon visit the land and inaugurate an olive grove on the land.
