PPP believes in democracy: Nasir Shah

Rejecting the allegations of kidnapping and sale of PTI members, Sindh Information Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that PPP believes in democracy and everyone has the right to vote according to their conscience. That there is no pressure on anyone to vote.

He said this while talking to media persons in the media corner of Sindh Assembly on Tuesday. He said that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has given special instructions that the entire process should be carried out in a democratic manner. He said that an unfortunate incident took place on the floor of Sindh Assembly today which should not have happened. PTI staged a drama in Sindh Assembly. “Was it imposed or was there any reality in it? The minister added that the PPP has nothing to do with it.

Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that if PPP was involved in bullying and vote buying then why did we need to bring them to light? We could have voted quietly.

He said that MPA Karim Bakhsh Gabol had expressed anger over the party’s policies in a video statement yesterday. He was followed by PTI’s Muhammad Aslam Abro and Shehryar Shar, who also expressed reservations about their party’s nominations and attitudes in a video statement. He said that his PTI members were not happy with the nomination in Balochistan and KPK and senior PTI members had announced in the media that they would not vote for their candidates.

He added that the three members were together in the same car today. They can tell who threatened them. The Minister stated, “MPA Karim Bakhsh Gabol was forcibly snatched by the PTI MPA and the PPP MPA tried to stop him but when Mr. Gabol told our MPA that If they want to go with them, our MPA should stay away, ”the minister said.

Asked about the MQM Pakistan’s decision to support the PTI, he said he accepted the MQM Pakistan’s decision. We went to them in front of everyone under the political process. We offered them what is our democratic right. But they have decided to form an alliance with the federal government after consulting the coordination committee. We accept their decision.

In response to another question, he said: Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to meet the MNA two days a week. The minister asked if he had met the members of the National Assembly before. The Prime Minister knows that his own people have strong objections to the Senate nominations, so he has begun a series of meetings with members of the Assembly.

Responding to a question about the Election Commission, he said, “We have confidence in all our institutions and whatever they decide, we believe it will be in the national interest and for the betterment of the system.”

He said that the federal government is a government of revenge and accusations, obviously its effects will diminish and today PTI members in the Sindh Assembly have blamed the media.

In response to another question, the provincial minister said that the rule of withdrawal does not apply to Senate votes. If one deviates from the vote of the Prime Minister and the Finance Bill, it means the principle of degradation.

On another question, he said that he would vote for the PPP nominees according to his conscience. The PPP has nominated its workers for the Senate. Yousuf Raza Gilani, Farhatullah Babar and Taj Haider are PPP workers and have a long relationship with the PPP.
