KARACHI: Maulana Abdul Razzaq Iskander, president of the Federation of Madrassas and a renowned religious scholar, breathed his last in Karachi on Wednesday at the age of 86.
The deceased was born in 1935 in Kokal village of Abbottabad district.
A spokesman for Jamia Banuri Town told APP that he was serving as a senior hadith professor at Jamia Uloom Al Islamia Banuri Town.
Razzaq has been receiving treatment at a local metropolitan police hospital for the past two weeks.
Funeral prayers were offered at 10 pm at Jamia Uloom Banuri Town, Karachi.
Reacting to this development, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail expressed deep sorrow and grief over the demise of a prominent religious scholar.
The Governor prayed to Allah to grant eternal peace to the soul of the deceased and to accept all services for the sake of religion and to grant patience to the bereaved family.
Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa also expressed his heartfelt condolences on the sad demise of the cleric.
“May God bless their souls and help the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss. Amen,” the army chief said.
