Visakhapatnam: Parts of South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema District Placed on high alert with India Meteorological Department (IMD) Sunday Wine Reporting Cyclone prevention Over the Bay of Bengal. There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in different areas of the above areas from 25 November to 26 November.
The IMD further urges that farmers cut their horticultural and agricultural crops immediately in two areas as the wind speed can exceed 100 km / h during the land duration of the cyclone. “The cyclone can cause a landslide on the southern coast of Tamil Nadu, along the border with southern coastal Andhra Pradesh. Under its influence, isolated to very heavy rainfall may occur at isolated places in Rayalaseema and South Coastal AP districts, ”IMD Director for AP, S. Stella told TOI.
Areas in northern coastal districts like Visakhapatnam and East Godavari may receive light to moderate rainfall. Talking about the progress of the cyclone, IMD officials said that it appeared as a well-marked low pressure system in the Bay of Bengal southwest and southeast.
It is likely to intensify into a depression by Monday before moving into a cyclone on 24 November, after which it will move northwest before crossing land between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu on the afternoon of 25 November .
Due to heavy downpour and consequent flooding in Rayalaseem and South Coastal AP region, the state had suffered heavy loss of agricultural production. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in his letter to the Center last month had estimated a loss of Rs 4,500 crore to the state and sought immediate relief of Rs 1,000 crore. At least 14 people lost their lives due to rain and floods.
