The prime minister said China, led by President Xi Jinping, had achieved “great success” in the fight against COVID-19 epidemics.

PTI’s vision

Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the CPC’s vision of a “Great Restoration of the Chinese Nation” and the PTI’s vision of a “New Pakistan” “reflect the aspirations of the people of our two countries”.

Towards CPEC and Pakistan’s Geo Economics

The Prime Minister said that in the context of the emerging global and regional environment, Pakistan has “restored its priorities from geopolitics to geoeconomics”.

He said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), BRI’s flagship project, “complements Pakistan’s new efforts for geopolitical transformation, with an emphasis on economic integration and regional connectivity.”

The Prime Minister said, “Furthermore, in line with my government’s green vision, which is in line with President Xi’s vision for a green China, it is Pakistan’s priority to turn the CPEC into a green CPEC.”

Pak-China relations ‘anchor for peace’

He spoke about the long-standing relations between Pakistan and China.

“Our enduring friendship with China and the CPEC fulfills this vision of peace for ourselves and others, and for shared prosperity and common development for our region and the world,” he said.

“Pakistan and China are iron brothers. We support each other on issues of common interest.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said, “In an age of complex and profound global and regional change, our ‘All Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership’ is a strong anchor for peace, development and prosperity.”

He said that this year also marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.

“Both our nations are celebrating this historic milestone in a proper way. I am confident that the year 2021 will give a new impetus to our time-tested friendship,” he said.

Finally, the Prime Minister called on the gathering to join hands in advancing the great cause of “peace and development, the well-being of our people,” and building a “common future for all humanity.”

About the summit

Chinese President Xi Jinping is chairing the summit.

More than 500 political parties and more than 10,000 political activists and representatives from around the world are expected to attend the virtual event.

Apart from Prime Minister Imran Khan, 20 world leaders were also scheduled to make statements on the occasion.

A ‘Joint Statement of Proposal’ will be issued at the end of the Summit.
