The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has won 32 seats in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly.
With the rise of power, the PTI is now in a comfortable position to form a government in Azad Kashmir. The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has 12 seats while the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has seven seats in the assembly.
Polling for the three seats reserved for technocrats, Kashmiris abroad and clerics took place in the Assembly Hall here on Monday. PTI won all the three seats and got 27 votes for each candidate. PTI’s Rafiq Nayyar was elected to the technocrat seat, Muhammad Iqbal to the Kashmiris abroad and Maulana Mazhar Saeed to the Ulema and Mashaikh seat.
Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Sardar Masood Khan has convened the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday (today) in which the newly elected members will take oath.
