Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) received special permission from Saudi Arabia to operate 21 additional flights between the two countries on a weekly basis. Geo News on Thursday.
According to a spokesman for the national flag carrier, the PIA had requested Saudi officials to allow additional flights from Saudi Arabia, given the urgent need to reach Saudi Arabia to renew its residency.
He said that with the increase in the number of flights, PIA would be able to handle 25,500 passengers from Pakistan before the 30th of this month – which is the last date for many to ensure their presence in the state. ۔
On Wednesday, Zulfiqar Bukhari, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, called on Saudi Arabia to increase flights and extend accommodation for Pakistani workers.
In a virtual meeting with Saudi Deputy Labor Minister Abdullah bin Nasir Abu Putin, the special assistant asked for an extension of next month’s residency to 30 more.
He had said that due to non-availability of flights, there have been a lot of planes.
On the occasion, Saudi Deputy Labor Minister Abdullah bin Nasser Abu al-Thani promised to raise the issue of flights and visas at the weekly joint ministerial meeting.
