Sanjeev Mittal appointed new Sambalpur VC

BHUBANESWAR: Sanjeev Mittal was appointed as the Chancellor of Sambalpur University for a period of four years. Mittal is currently a Professor, University School of Management Studies, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi.

Governor and Vice Chancellor of Universities Ganeshi Lal appointed Mittal as the new Chancellor of Sambalpur University, from which he remained in office till such time or next order whichever is earlier. The tenure of outgoing VC Deepak Kumar Behera ended on 17 January.

After interviewing three shortlisted candidates, the governor has selected 62-year-old Mittal for the top job. He has 29 years of teaching experience. He also has 111 publications to his name and has successfully guided 11 PhD scholars.

On November 25 last year, the Higher Education Department released advertisements for the post of vice-chancellor of Sambalpur University, Rainshaw University and Odisha State Open University.

For Sambalpur University and Rainshaw University, the vice-chancellor shall have a term of four years from the time he takes office or until he attains the age of 67, whichever is earlier. For Odisha State Open University, the tenure of VC is three years and the age limit is 65 years.

Sources said that the Governor will select the Vice-Chancellors of Ravish University and Odisha State Open University within the next two days.

In November last year, the Governor selected the Vice Chancellors for six universities – Utkal University, Fakir Mohan University, Rama Devi Women’s University, GM University Sambalpur, Khallikote University Berhampur and Maharaja Shriram Chandra Bhanu Dev University (formerly North Odisha University) Baripada Was.
