Both Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) managed to get representation in the Senate according to their respective numerical strength as all the candidates of both the parties were elected unopposed for 11 seats in Punjab on Thursday. The news TV channel reported.
This development blocked the opportunity to trade horses. PTI won six seats while PML-N won five seats. Out of the seven seats reserved for the Senate, PTI and PML-N won three seats each, while the seventh seat was won by PML-Q.
Similarly, both the PTI and the PML-N won one technocrat seat each. Similarly, both parties managed to win one seat reserved for women.
Saifullah Niazi, Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhry and Aun Abbas of PTI were elected unopposed in three general seats while Kamil Ali Agha of PML-Q was elected unopposed in the general seat.
PTI barrister Ali Zafar was elected to the technocrat seat while the party’s Dr Zarqa Timur was declared the winner of the women’s seat.
Similarly, PML-N’s Irfan Siddiqui, Sajid Mir and Afnan Khan won three general seats, while the party’s Azam Nazir Tarar was elected senator as a technocrat.
Sadia Abbasi of PML-N won the women’s seat. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will issue a notification of success of these candidates after March 3.
