Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto has announced to challenge the results of the Senate Chairman and Deputy Chairman elections in court.
After announcing the results on Friday, he told the media that the election of the Senate chairman had been “stolen”.
He said that the prejudice of the presiding officer was biased, adding that the ruling PTI had declared the seven votes illegal and illegitimate.
A total of 98 senators exercised their franchise and Sadiq Sanjarani of the ruling party got 48 votes while his opponent Yousuf Raza Gilani rejected 42 and seven votes.
Bilawal said that the seven votes which were rejected as invalid were cast in favor of Yousuf Raza Gilani. He said that there was a consensus of PDM on this issue and anti-government campaign would be launched.
Along with PDM’s joint candidate Yousuf Raza Gilani, PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto announced the transfer of the court against the government for allegedly rigging the election.
