On Sunday, Federal Minister for Education and Vocational Training Shafqat Mahmood said that it was not his place to make decisions regarding examinations from the point of view of health as such decisions are taken only by medical experts.
To speak during Geo NewsShafqat Mehmood said that the “Cambridge” exams would start from tomorrow as per the schedule of the “New Pakistan” program, which was held despite the protests of students, following the increase in the incidence of corona virus across the country.
“The government will ensure that standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all corona viruses are strictly followed in examination halls. We are closely monitoring the situation and [action will be initiated] “If SOPs are violated during examinations,” the minister said.
Shafqat Mehmood said that the health of the citizens has always been the top priority of the government but as the number of students appearing for the Cambridge exams in Pakistan is low, the National Command Operations Center (NCOC) has decided to proceed with the examination decision. Suggested
The minister said that during the last meeting of education ministers on April 18, all the provinces were on the same page in terms of examinations.
“I even wanted to continue matriculation and intermediate classes so that the exams could be held,” he said. “However, the NCOC was against the proposal in light of the health of the citizens.”
The Minister said that Cambridge even allowed students in Pakistan to take examinations in the October / November session without paying any additional fees.
“This exception only applies to AS level students who want to apply to foreign universities and need their degrees. [before the deadlines], “They said.
When asked why he and other education ministers advocated holding examinations under the circumstances, Shafqat Mahmood, citing last year’s example, said that everything that happened with the students’ grades was a mess. He added that when the NCOC suggests something [in the light of public health] The Ministry of Education then implements this decision.
He also said that matriculation and intermediate examinations would be held in the third or fourth week of May.
