South African, Indian variety COVID-19 was found in KP patients

On Friday, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government confirmed the discovery of different Indian and South African varieties of the novel Coronius in Peshawar.

According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Secretary Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah, one patient has been diagnosed with the Indian virus, while two other patients have been diagnosed with South Africa.

According to the health secretary, the three patients had arrived in the province from the United Arab Emirates, adding that they were residents of Peshawar. Upon arrival of the passengers, a test was conducted for COVID-19 and the samples obtained from them were sent to Islamabad for testing.

The provincial health secretary said the person affected by the Indian variable was 41 years old, while the two patients from different parts of South Africa were 18 and 38 years old, respectively.

The health secretary added that both conditions have the potential to spread rapidly and are dangerous. Therefore, he urged the public to strictly adhere to the government’s mandatory Corona Virus Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
