Former Trinamool Congress leader Suvendu Adhikari wrote a letter to party workers on Saturday asking them to join hands and “make a fresh start”. In the letter, the officer, who recently resigned from TMC and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, said: “Our fight is to restore West Bengal to its glory.”
Taking a dig at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, she alleged that TMC was now filled with people who cared for no one but themselves. He also said that the party was not formed with the contribution of one person in one day. It was a sustained effort on a large scale, culminating in 2011 after TMC came to power in West Bengal, he wrote
Political heavyweight Suvendu Adhikari joined BJP today at Home Minister Amit Shah’s rally in Midnapore. During the rally, the officer vowed to remove the Banerjee regime in the upcoming 2021 assembly elections in West Bengal.
He also alleged that the TMC wants to divide the state on the lines of “insider” and “outsider”, while the BJP believes in nationalism and pluralism. “Shame on TMC for such narrow politics,” the official said.
“I am being called a traitor by those who are traitors themselves (TMC). If there was no BJP, TMC would never have come into existence. In the next assembly elections, BJP will defeat Bengal and TMC will be defeated, ”he also said.
The officer resigned from the Trinamool Congress earlier this week. He was an MLA from Nandigram in East Midnapore district. Along with the officer, nine other MLAs from different parties and a TMC MP also joined the BJP.
As reported by news agency PTI, Mamata Banerjee held a closed-door meeting at her residence on Friday, where she assured party leaders not to be “worried about deserts”.
“During the meeting our party supremo said that we should not be worried about deserts because it is good that rotten elements are leaving the party on their own. He said there were items for the desert party, ”PTI quoted a senior TMC leader.
