Telangana students demand cancellation of exams, #CancelTSExamsPromoteStudents ranks 2nd on Twitter

Soon after the Maharashtra government announced the cancellation of university exams in the state, similar demands have been coming in from different parts of the country.

On Wednesday, thousands of students on social media platform Twitter asked the Telangana government to cancel the university examinations in the state. These students are also seeking promotions without taking exams.

Educational institutions across the country have been closed since March 2020 due to a nationwide lockout implemented to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Many schools and colleges have moved to online classes and open-book exams.

However, Telangana students want the exam to be canceled due to safety concerns amid an outbreak of coronovirus. TOI Hyderabad made a poll on its Twitter handle on Wednesday, asking students “what should be the plan for the pending university examinations in #Telangana?”

The result of the vote will be after 9.00 pm tonight.

Speaking about the university examinations, Osramia University Controller of Examinations, Shriram Venkatesh said, “All eyes are on the SSC exams, which will be conducted in the state in the next few days. If the SSC exams are conducted smoothly, So shall we. Conduct the examination till the end of June or the first week of July. We cannot issue degrees to the final year students without conducting the examination. And if we conduct the examination for the final year students, We can do the same for other students. ”He further added that a decision in this regard would also be taken in a standing committee meeting to be held in the second week.
