Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed on Thursday returned 12 kanals of land donated by its owner to the “Supreme Court of Pakistan and Prime Minister of Pakistan Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand Dams Fund”.
The hearing came after a petition was filed by the owner’s son, who said the land had been donated by his father out of “depression”.
He said the “criminals” had taken over the land and had filed a case against the family.
On this, the Chief Justice expressed his anger and said: “You have declared your father a patient of depression for some money. What drama have you played in the court?”
He asked the petitioner to return the land documents. “If you want to give land in the dam fund, do it happily.”
The registrar of the Supreme Court was asked to return all the paperwork to the owner.
According to a Dawn’s Report that Rs. 11.2 billion has been spent in the dam fund so far.
In a written reply to a question from MNA Hamid Hameed in the Parliament session, Finance and Revenue Minister Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh told the Assembly that Rs. 11,250,487,205 in donations / contributions. [dam fund] Submitted by November 17, 2020.
The Minister said, “An amount of Rs. 170,000, 16163434 has also been received in the fund account as profit on investment of Dams Fund.”
The report said that he also informed the House that Rs. 155,785,486 had been raised for the fund through cellular companies and Rs. , 603,883 have been deposited.
The Minister further said that so far no money has been withdrawn from the accounts of the Dams Fund kept with the State Bank of Pakistan.
