The federal government on Wednesday reduced the passport fee after Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed announced the decision a day earlier.
According to the notification issued by the Director General of Immigration, the fee for a 10-year passport has been fixed at Rs 4,500 for normal procedure and Rs 7,500 for one instant procedure.
Earlier, according to the online portal of the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, Rs 5,400 was charged for the normal processing of a 10-year passport and Rs 9,000 for an expedited process.
Furthermore, according to the notification, no change has been made in the five-year passport charges. Authorities will charge Rs 3,000 for the normal processing of a five-year passport, while Rs 5,000 will be charged for immediate processing.
