On Saturday, 24 News HD TV channel reported that the government had removed Atif Bukhari, chairman of the Board of Investment (BOI), from his seat.
Atif Bukhari resigned from the chairmanship of the board at the request of Prime Minister Imran Khan. He is the third head of the board to resign prematurely under the current government.
According to sources, the government is going to appoint a new chairman soon and some names are under consideration in this regard.
However, according to media reports, Bukhari said that he had resigned from the post of BOI chairman due to personal reasons and would return to Karachi.
He was the chairman of BOI for about 14 months. Prime Minister Imran Khan had appointed Bukhari as BOI chairman in March last year and he joined the office in April. Bukhari had replaced Zubair Gilani.
