Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has summoned Deputy Commissioner (DC) Faisalabad for ignoring his directive. In his judgment, Speaker Elahi directed that DC Faisalabad must be present in the Punjab Assembly in order to repeatedly disregard his orders.

The decision was taken during the Punjab Assembly session, which began on Monday after a delay of more than an hour, chaired by Speaker Elahi.

During the meeting, the question was adjourned for the second day in a row as questions related to the Labor and Human Resources Department were put on hold in the last session while questions related to the Mines and Minerals Department could not be raised on Monday. .

As soon as the session began, Speaker Elahi summoned the House on Tuesday and slammed DC Faisalabad for not participating in the phone calls. “DC Faisalabad is not paying attention to anyone, including me. He is lying that he is engaged in meetings but the fact is that he is sitting in his house, “Elahi remarked. The Speaker summoned the House for clarification to pronounce the verdict.

Pervez Elahi was of the view that Rescue 1122 station was to be constructed at a cost of Rs 100 million in Faisalabad, and a letter was sent to DC in this regard, but no reply has been received so far. According to Elahi, he called DC Faisalabad, but did not speak to him, ignoring the provincial minister’s instructions. Summoning DC Faisalabad and in-charge Rescue 1122 Faisalabad in the Punjab Assembly today, the Speaker gave a stern decision.

Meanwhile, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Raja Basharat said that the Punjab government was taking concrete steps for the welfare and protection of women. “The Punjab Women’s Protection Authority has been activated to help women affected by violence, while women’s protection centers are being set up in Rawalpindi and Lahore after Multan,” Raja Basharat said. He added that the government has recently introduced two important bills related to women, namely the Women’s Hostel Authority and the implementation of women in the Property Bill 2021, which will become law after approval. “Further legislation will be enacted on the direction of Chief Minister Usman Bazdar to empower women in society,” she added. He said that women were being given effective representation in all walks of life in Punjab.
