The study found that children with severe Covid-19 infections were less likely to be infected

LONDON: Scientists across the UK have assessed cases of covid 19 in newborns, and found that 90 per cent of them have fully recovered, and have been discharged from hospital, according to estimates. Acute infections are very rare in children.
The study, published in the journal The Lancet Child and Adsense Health, tracked children under 29 with Covid 19 who had to be hospitalized in early March and late April.
In the study, scientists, including those from Imperial College London in the UK, found that 66 children in this period needed hospital treatment for code 19 infections, equivalent to 1 in 17,785 births, or births. 0.06%.
The researchers said that the main symptoms of Covid-19 infection in children include high temperature, poor diet, vomiting, runny nose, cough and lethargy.
He added that about half of the children with severe infections belonged to a black, Asian or minority ethnic group and that one in four babies were born prematurely.
According to the study, only 17 out of 66 newborns suspected that they had contracted Covid 19 from their mother in the first seven days after birth, and six of them may have contracted the disease while in hospital. ۔
Research has revealed that two of these newborns may have contracted covid-19 in the womb.
The scientists said that 7 out of 17 babies developed covid 19 immediately after birth despite separation from their mother, supporting international guidance for keeping mother and baby together, even when the mother is suspected. Or does he just not pay attention when you tell him something to do?
He said none of the children in the group had died from covid 19, and that 90 per cent of the 66 children had fully recovered from the infection and had been discharged from the hospital.
According to scientists, a higher proportion of newborns with severe illness need intensive care or breathing assistance (36%) than older children (13%).
However, he added that severe infections in newborns were “still very rare.”
Based on the results, the researchers said that if a mother tested positive for COVD-19, her baby would not need to be weaned at birth.
“Parents, and prospective parents, are worried about their child’s illness in Cowboy 19,” said Chris Gayle, co-author of the study at Imperial’s School of Public Health.
“This study can be expected to provide some reassurance, as it suggests that severe infections of Covid 19 in newborns are very rare,” Gail said.
Although the study found that six children had contracted the hospital-acquired Covid-19, the scientists said the figure was from the beginning of the epidemic.
He believes that infection control measures for newborns and pediatric units have improved dramatically over the past six months.
