The Class X English question paper, which was answered by more than 19,000 students on May 23, found many errors and discussed many controversial issues. The most widely criticized was a conversation provided as part of a grammar-related question, where it was suggested that opting for a Portuguese passport is a good option as jobs in Goa are scarce and under the influence or bribe Cannot be obtained without use.

The DoE initiated the action on Tuesday after Chief Minister and Education Minister Pramod Sawant held a meeting with Mohanan and Rao.

“In the case of aided schools, teachers are employees of management and therefore the DoE cannot take direct action against them. Therefore, three school management presidents have been issued instructions to take action against the teachers, ”said an official.

Goa Board President Ramakrishna Samant said that a separate investigation into the matter was going on by the board. Samanta said, “We have started the process of questioning the case and our investigation is on.”

For each paper of the tenth and twelfth public examination, the board engages four or more teachers, who set about five question papers by subject. One of these question papers is picked up, and only one of the panel of papers examines the key selected paper. No other investigations are conducted in between to ensure confidentiality.

Former chairman of the Goa board, PR Nadkarni said that since the teachers of the subsidized schools are only required for public examination work by the board, the board cannot directly impose any major penalty on the teachers.

“In the 1981 scandal, hardly any action was taken against the teachers. In fact, someone was awarded the state award in later years. During my tenure as Chairman, we had suggested major punishment for malfeasance against teachers of aided schools, but I did not take any action by the school management, ”said Nadkarni.
