The state government released the fund a few months ago to set up coaching centers in universities. On June 11, the department asked universities to refund unused funds. But eight universities have not yet returned the funds. The department has not clarified the amount.
These universities were – Utkal University Bhubaneswar, Barhampur University, Sambalpur University, Fakir Mohan University Balasore, Ravenshaw University Cuttack, Rama Devi Women’s University Bhubaneswar, GM University Sambalpur and North Odisha University Baripada.
“You were requested in June to refund the dues available at your end under the” Civil Service Coaching Center “scheme. But even after six months, none of the universities have returned the dues to this department. Therefore, you are requested. Additional Secretary Rajshree Mohanty said that take immediate steps to return the unexpected balance.
The main objective of the center was to prepare the students to face one of the most challenging tests in India and to increase the number of Odisha candidates in the Civil Services Examination.
It has been observed that universities cannot conduct civil service coaching classes properly. This prompted the department to tie up with private coaching institutes to provide IAS coaching to Odisha candidates.
The state government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dhyeya Educational Services to provide IAS coaching to the students of the state. It has already conducted coaching of 100 students for the year 2019-20.
With the help of the coaching institute, the state government started providing quality civil service coaching to those who cannot afford expensive civil service coaching outside the state.
