US election 2020: 2 presidential debates between Trump and Biden canceled

Washington: The second presidential debate between President Donald Trump and Democrat Joe Biden is officially closed. The nonpartisan Commission for Presidential Elections confirmed on Friday that the faceoff, to be held on October 15, would be abolished. The decision would be “virtually” the day after it was announced by the commission as Trump contracted coronovirus.
Trump captured the debate in that format, and Biden scheduled the town hall with ABC News that night, when Trump said he would not attend.
Trump’s team later made a call to hold the debate, as the president’s doctor said he would be cleared to hold public events that began on Saturday.
But the commission said it would not overturn its decision, citing an abundance of caution with health concerns, especially for town-hall-style debates that determined to question average voters was.
A third debate, scheduled for October 22 in Nashville, Tennessee, is still ongoing.
