US manufacturing growth slowed from April to March

Washington: US manufacturing growth slowed in April, partly due to the global supply chain after reaching a 37-year high in March.
The Institute for Supply Management, a trade group of purchasing managers, said on Monday that the index of manufacturing activity reached 60.7 last month. This was down from the March’s 64.7 reading, the highest level since December 1983.
Any reading above 50 indicates that manufacturing is expanding. Manufacturing is the 11th consecutive month in April after the contract in April 2020, when the country was struggling to cope with the shutdown due to a global pandemic.
The recession in April led to a number of problems facing American factories including disruptions in supply chains for critical components such as computer chips.
