Vice Chancellor of Telangana University: Telangana Government appoints Vice Chancellors for 10 Universities

Hyderabad: Nearly two years after the post of Vice Chancellors (VC) of various universities, the Telangana government on Saturday appointed vice-chancellors for ten state universities. Governor Tamilisai Sundararajan on Saturday approved the names of the new vice chancellors following the recommendations of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Osmania University, the oldest university in Telangana, has got three chancellors for various universities. D Ravinder Yadav, who was working as the Principal of OU Arts College, appointed VC for his university i.e. OU, while OU Registrar C Gopal Reddy has been nominated at Mahatma Gandhi University in Nalgonda. Another teacher of OU D Ravinder Gupta is posted at Telangana University in Nizamabad. A retired professor of the OU Telugu Department, T Kishan Rao has been selected for Potti Sriramulu Telugu University in Hyderabad.

Kakatiya University, the second largest and oldest university, Warangal also got the head of the university from this institute. Professor of Sociology Thattikonda Ramesh has been elected Vice Chancellor of Kakatiya University. Another major university in Hyderabad, JNTUH, received a former vice-chancellor Katta Narasimha Reddy as VC. He worked as the head of Mahatma Gandhi University in the previous term. Similarly, Sitaram Rao, former VC of Dr. BR Ambedkar Open University, has been re-nominated for the same post for the second time. He worked as a VC between 2016 and 2019.

Nizam College Principal Laxmikant Rathore appointed as VC for Palamuru University in Mahbubnagar, Prof. Mallesham, former Vice President of Telangana Higher Education Council, has been elected to Satavahana University in Karimnagar and Kavita Daryani has been appointed as the JN Architecture and Fine Arts University. , Has been appointed as VC of Hyderabad.

Out of 10 universities, the government has ensured representation to all the major communities in the state. While two patriarchs were elected from BC, two from Reddy, one from SC (Mala), ST, Brahmin, Vaishya, Velama and Sindhi communities. A formal GO is expected to arrive in a day or two upon the appointment of a VC.
