Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday clarified on its official Twitter account questions raised by fans regarding the alleged display of firecrackers during Virat Kohli’s birthday celebrations. The controversy erupted after RCB captain Kohli shared a video on his Twitter on the eve of Diwali in which he asked the people of India to protect the environment and avoid bursting firecrackers.
But on Twitter, Kohli questioned Kohli over the display of firecrackers, seen in his birthday video, which was posted on the RCB Twitter page on 5 November.
The RCB franchise said in a tweet on Monday that the clip in the video contained archival footage of the UAE’s Flag Day celebrations.
“Hope all of you are enjoying a happy and peaceful Diwali with family and friends. To clarify, the fireworks shown in the video of RCB’s recent celebration were archival footage of UAE’s Flag Day celebrations, ”RCB wrote in a tweet.
“RCB continues to work hard to protect the environment, as we have done for years,” the tweet further stated.
